NOT AN ADOLESCENT GIRL (2018-)
'Not an adolescent girl' allows people to face and embrace repression, shame, anger ... and grow up.
“The adolescent girl still remains a young plant that neither gets light nor water. She remains the flower that could have blossomed but didn’t…”
(Kamla Bhasin)
'Not an adolescent girl' is a community-centred Live Art work, art installation and/or workshop. The project evokes, feeds and transmutes the “demons of adolescence” girls* have been subjected to in puberty. The actio has a structure of a Possession Rite that advocates adorcism (instead of exorcism). The thinking-body of the artist becomes the channel of transindividual experiences. The installation work in the form of a vesica piscis - the intersection of two congruent disks - is composed by a pair of salopette jeans, a hula hoop, broken pieces of red plastic and a mandorla shaped piece of carefully worked fabric in the centre. The actio is inspired by the Tibetan process of Feeding your Demons as developed by Lama Tsultrim Allione.
