'Be-coming Tree' in Antennae journal
The art initiative Be-coming-Tree entangled international live artists with barefoot technology to cultivate global togetherness during the restrictive months of the pandemic.
The Be-coming Tree project was featured in the “Queering Nature” Vol 2 issue of Antennae: The Journal of Nature in Visual Culture.
The three female/queer artist-facilitators of the project (Jatun Risba, Danièle J Minns, O. Pen Be) organised three online roundtables in which some of the participating Be-coming Tree artists (Rob La Frenais, Annette Arlander, Andile Hamilton Nzuza, Nhlanhla Dhlamini, Dimple B Shah, Aoi Suwa, Miranda Whall, Deej Alison Fabyc, TJ (Tracy Jean Thorne) critically reflected upon the contemporary relevance of the project in terms of: personal art practices, eco-feminist and queering discourses, the dichotomy of ‘human’ and ‘nature’. The resulting contribution "Queering ecologies to cultivate unity" was published on the pages 165-175 of the journal.
